Stop Making Sense: A Multimedia Concert Tribute to Talking Heads

Join PHAME for a rock n’ roll concert tribute featuring artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities alongside special guests Laura Gibson, Lost Lander, Brian Koch (Blitzen Trapper), Stephanie Strange, Matthew Gailey, and Adrianna Audoma.

Stop Making Sense is a multimedia sensation on stage at Revolution Hall August 26 and 27, 2023. Inspired by Talking Heads’ 1984 concert film of the same name, this colorful, joyful show incorporates original choreography, inventive video projections, stellar vocals, and Talking Heads classics like “Heaven,” “This Must Be the Place,” and “Psycho Killer.”

Two performances only, August 26 at 7:30pm and August 27 at 2:00pm.
Run time: approximately 90 minutes.

Tickets are sold by the venue, Revolution Hall. Click the buttons below to be redirected to Revolution Hall’s ticketing site.

Tickets can also be purchased in person at Revolution Hall at their Etix self-serve kiosk (located in their building at Show Bar). They also have a self-service Etix kiosk located at Mississippi Studios in Bar Bar. The Revolution Hall box office open one hour before show time and tickets can also be purchased there.

Guests of all ages can attend. All guests over the age of two are required to have their own ticket.


Accessibility

Both performances will have ASL interpretation.

To help you prepare for the event, we’ve created a character guide and a visual checklist.

We welcome patrons with disabilities and seek to make our performances enjoyable for all patrons. Patrons who need to vocalize or move around are welcome, and can bring fidgets or toys that help them focus or feel comfortable. The performance includes loud music. There will be no strobe-like lights and no gunshot-like sound effects. Guests are welcome to use the large hallway outside of the theater if they need a break during the show.

Online Rental Option

Watch PHAME’s Stop Making Sense performance as a video rental! The video will be available to view online beginning approximately one month after the August 26 and 27 live performances. A rental ticket will allow you to view the full event recording online through the end of 2023.

The price of a rental ticket is $25. Arts for All card holders, as well as PHAME students who receive tuition assistance, can contact Alex Geffel at ageffel@phamepdx.org to receive a coupon code to reduce the price to $5—please contact Alex before purchasing your rental ticket.
